Kimberly Chu
Kimberly J. Chu attended the University of California – Irvine as an undergraduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in Social Ecology with specializations in both Criminology, Law and Society, and Psychology and Social Behavior. She graduated with honors and went on to obtain her J.D. from Boston University School of Law. While in Boston, she spent time as a law clerk working in the Environmental Crimes Unit of the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General.
Ms. Chu joined Brayton Purcell, LLP in September 2001 and has since worked in numerous areas of civil litigation practice, including matters related to asbestos and pharmaceuticals, as well as claims brought under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. She is admitted to practice in California, Washington and a number of federal district courts.
She has decades of experience in all phases of litigation including client interviews, discovery, depositions, motions, oral argument, pre-trial preparation and trial. Currently, Ms. Chu most often can be found arguing motions in court, working with clients on their cases and mentoring newer associates. Ms. Chu is also a member of various professional organizations including, but not limited to, Consumer Attorneys of California.
In her spare time, Ms. Chu loves reading, going to the movies and discovering new places to eat. She enjoys watching her kids’ dance performances, listening to school bands and attending scouting events. She also can be found camping, hiking, traveling and spending time with her extended family in Hawaii and Illinois. Ms. Chu lives in Sonoma County, sharing a home with her husband, kids, cat, rabbit and some Hawaiian lava shrimp
