Gabriela Munoz-Gomez
I was born and raised in Mexico City. My parents worked hard to help me attend a prestigious university where I earned my J.D. I furthered my legal studies overseas where I attended the University Complutense in Madrid, Spain. I earned a master's degree in Law and Economics there. I was sponsored by my master's program to attend seminars in law and economics at Harvard Law School. I practiced law in Mexico and was a commissioner at the Tax Court in Mexico City for 10 years. I also enjoyed being a law professor at my alma mater.
I met the love of my life in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, and moved to the USA in 2015. My legal advocacy called me to work at the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City to assist Mexican immigrants through the legal processes in Mexico and the USA.
I worked in a few personal injury law offices in Utah and California and represented both plaintiffs and defendants. I am passionate about caring for injured people and fighting for fair compensation for their suffering.
In my spare time, I like to teach yoga. I like to hike with my husband and our dog, Kuma. I like to paint in watercolor. I like to travel and go out with friends and family.
What motivated/inspired you to become an attorney?
My maternal grandfather worked in law enforcement in Mexico City while all the big cartels were formed. From the 1950s to the 1970s my paternal grandmother worked hard to raise her five kids while working as a TV and radio hostess. I went through a difficult male-controlled work environment, but my grandparents encouraged me to pursue a career to advocate for others.
What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
Besides researching, writing, and appearing in court, my biggest reward is when the client gets their compensation.
