Over 13 million vehicles in the United States are subject to recall due to dangerous Takata brand airbags, and that number will be growing soon. Takata airbags have caused severe lacerations and caused the deaths of four individuals after exploding within vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has urged drivers to act quickly if they own an affected vehicle.
Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, and General Motors companies all sold vehicles equipped with Takata airbags, and the owners of these automobiles were encouraged to replace the defective parts immediately back in October. Since then, Mazda has announced the expansion of the affected vehicles manufactured by their company. Over 86,000 Mazda vehicles are currently under the Takata airbag recall, with more to come.
This recall does not only affect automobile owners in the United States. Honda recently announced that it would expand their U.S. recall globally.
Despite “clearly [knowing] there were severe issues with the use of this product from very early on,” Takata did not hesitate to install their airbags in the driver’s side of millions of automobiles, putting even more lives at risk. If you own one of the vehicles on this list, do not hesitate to contact your dealer for a safer alternative to Takata airbags.
