Partner Post: Risperdal Anti-Psychotic Drug Settlement
November 19, 2013Low Testosterone Drugs May Increase Risk of Serious Health Problems
October 15, 2014You might not have guessed it, but medical drug injuries are a big problem in the United States. There are many prescriptions approved by the FDA and available for patient use, but some are not the miracle-workers that advertisements claim them to be.
Recently, Boehring Ingelheim resolved more than 4,000 claims involving their drug Pradaxa, an anti-stroke medication for $650 million. Many of the claims occurred after patients used the pharmaceutical drug and experienced excessive bleeding complications.
The drug was approved by the FDA in 2010, but many plaintiffs in the settlement claim that the company failed to provide proper warning of the side effects to the drug’s users. The plaintiffs will be compensated based on the severity of their injuries. Despite the $650 million settlement, Boehring Ingelheim still maintains that the drug is safe to use by consumers.
If you have suffered adverse side effects after being prescribed Pradaxa, do not hesitate to contact a lawyer experienced in medical drug injuries and defective medical devices.
