A large portion of the products that Americans buy every year is comprised of home goods. Interior and exterior design are important to homeowners, and they take pride in the products they buy and they way they make their homes look and feel. This is all great until those products pose a danger to the house they are decorating.Pier 1 has recently recalled over 11,000 Hanging Glass Star Lanterns due to a fire hazard. A tea light candle is placed inside an attractive metal and glass, star-shaped holder. The solder welds on the lantern can melt due to heat from the candle, which can cause the candle holder to break and expose the flame. There are three different colors of lanterns included in the recall: amber (SKU 2717349), clear (SKU 2717351) and red (SKU 2724169).One incident in which the Hanging Glass Star lantern fell apart and burned a rug has occurred. Consumers are urged to stop use of the lantern and return it to any Pier 1 Imports store for a full refund or store credit.
