The drug was approved by the FDA in 2010, but many plaintiffs in the settlement claim that the company failed to provide proper warning of the side effects to the drug’s users. The plaintiffs will be compensated based on the severity of their injuries. Despite the $650 million settlement, Boehring Ingelheim still maintains that the drug is safe to use by consumers.
