I have been working for Brayton Purcell for almost three years on asbestos related matters until recently when I started working on the stone team as well. With the stone cases compared to the asbestos cases, the clients are much younger in age when they are getting diagnosed due to their work-related exposure. These young clients have so much life left to live and must live day in and day out with this terrible disease. Their silicosis diagnosis has not only affected them, but their loved ones.
Even though I am a small piece of the big puzzle in helping fight for our clients, I find it fulfilling in knowing that the work we are doing is a small step forward to getting justice for them. My hope is that legislation will continue to move in the right direction and more protections will be put in place for those having to work with artificial stone.
