In late February of 2017, Takata entered into a plea agreement with the United States regarding the charges relating to their defective airbags. Their plan created a Trust that will be used to compensate individuals with personal injury and wrongful death claims. Additionally, car manufacturers who were “direct victims of the unlawful actions of Takata” will also receive restitution. The Trust is expected to be funded by mid-April of 2018.
Takata Recall
Takata airbags are responsible for at least 21 deaths and 180 injuries. 37 million vehicles in the United States alone have been recalled. Many vehicle owners are still waiting for replacement parts for their defective airbags. To read more about Takata’s airbag recall click here.
