June 18, 2014

Whether you live in sunny California or brisk Chicago, a boiler or space heater is bound to come in handy at some point. People all over the country turn them on to heat small rooms and houses with little problems, but some models have proven to be safer than others.

Recently Weil-McClain recalled over 8,000 boilers in both the United States and Canada due to fire and explosion risks.

Eleven incidents have been reported, involving the manifold caps cracking. Gas from the boiler is released through the cracks, posing a risk of fire and explosion.

Although no injuries or explosions have been reported, Weil-McClain tells consumers to immediately stop using the recalled boilers (Ultra models 80, 105, 155 and 230 MBH Ultra Series Boilers), turn off the gas supply, and contact the company to schedule a free inspection and repair.
