The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently investigating the possibility of improper asbestos removal at the site of the former Michigan School for the Blind. The investigation has followed after Michigan construction company, MAC Contracting, LLC, was accused of improperly and unsafely removing asbestos materials from the school.
The EPA has not commented on the situation, but has collected samples at the site and is determining the level of safety of the removal. The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also conducting an investigation into the asbestos removal practices of MAC Contracting, LLC. The company is a licensed asbestos abatement contractor in the state.
